FAQ

Can I buy extra baggage online after booking?

Yes. Prepaid baggage vouchers can be bought online in Manage Booking on superairjet.com, or via travel agents and Super Air Jet sales offices, up to 6 hours before departure.

Where do I buy extra baggage?

Buy it in Manage Booking at superairjet.com/en/manage.php by entering your reservation details, or through a travel agent or Super Air Jet sales office. The per-kg price list for every destination is linked as a downloadable PDF on the same page.

When is the deadline to buy extra baggage online?

Prepaid baggage must be bought no later than 6 hours before departure, and only while the ticket status is OK and before web check-in or online check-in is completed.

How does the airline calculate extra baggage charges?

Pricing is weight-based and route-specific: each route has a published per-kg rate, and prepaid vouchers are sold in fixed sizes of 5, 10, 15, 20, 25 or 30 kg. Any weight above the free allowance plus prepaid vouchers is weighed at the check-in counter and charged as excess baggage (EBT).

How many extra bags can I buy, and what are the bag limits?

A maximum of 30 kg of prepaid baggage can be bought per passenger. Free checked allowance is 10 kg; anything above the allowance plus prepaid vouchers is charged at the airport excess rate. The airline publishes no per-piece maximum.

Is it cheaper to buy extra baggage online in advance vs at the airport?

Yes. The prepaid per-kg rate is lower than the airport excess (EBT) rate on most routes — for example IDR 16,000 prepaid vs IDR 20,000 at the airport per kg on short domestic hops, and IDR 96,000 prepaid vs IDR 126,000 at the airport per kg on Jakarta–Jayapura. A few international routes show identical prepaid and airport rates.

Can I get a refund or transfer extra baggage if I cancel or change my booking?

Prepaid baggage is refunded only together with a ticket refund, i.e. only if the flight itself is cancelled. Unused leftover quota is forfeited — for example, if you buy 10 kg but use 8 kg, the remaining 2 kg cannot be refunded.

Are there any important exceptions or restrictions I should know?

Prepaid vouchers exclude surfboard and bicycle handling fees, which are charged separately. Wheelchairs (non-battery), baby strollers with an infant ticket, and official security items up to 5 kg travel free as special baggage; without use or infant ticket they count as normal baggage. Dangerous goods are prohibited.

Do partner-operated or codeshare flights have different baggage rules?

On connecting itineraries within the Lion Air Group departing from Indonesia, the free allowance follows the largest quota among the segments used; baggage can be through-checked to the final destination. Connections departing from outside Indonesia, or involving non-group airlines, follow the allowance stated on each ticket.
