  1. Go to 9air.com and open 自助服务 (Self Service) → 行李购买 (Baggage purchase), or open the 9 Air WeChat official account.
  2. Click 点击购买 (Buy now) and choose a purchase method: member login purchase or entering passenger information directly.
  3. Select the departure city, arrival city, and baggage weight package (5 kg tiers; the page can also quote a live price for your route) and confirm the amount.
  4. Complete online payment at least 2 hours before the scheduled departure time and keep the confirmation or updated itinerary; invoices are available at the airport counter or as an electronic invoice.
  5. If departure is within 2 hours, skip online purchase and check the bags and pay the standard per-kg rate at the airport check-in counter instead.

9 Air uses weight-based pricing, not per-piece pricing. Online baggage is sold in 5 kg packages with prices set by flight-distance band (3 bands on domestic routes, 5 bands including a Guangzhou-Bangkok special on international routes). Airport counters charge per kilogram instead.

Is it cheaper to buy extra baggage online in advance vs at the airport?

Yes. Online prepaid rates are the cheapest; the airport counter charges higher standard per-kg rates. For example, 5 kg on a 0-800 km domestic route costs CNY 48 online versus CNY 60 (12 × 5) at the counter. After the 2-hour online cutoff, only counter rates are available.
