FAQ

Can I buy extra baggage online after booking?

Yes. Lion Air offers Bagasi Prabayar (prepaid baggage) through its website at www.lionair.co.id. You need your booking code (PNR) and flight details.

Where do I buy extra baggage?

Prepaid baggage can be purchased via the Lion Air website (Kelola Pemesanan > Bagasi Prabayar), through travel agents, at the Lion Air Tower, or at Lion Group representative offices in regional areas.

When is the deadline to buy prepaid baggage online?

Prepaid baggage must be purchased at least 6 hours before the scheduled departure time.

How much extra baggage can I buy and what are the limits?

You can buy prepaid baggage from 5 kg up to a maximum of 30 kg per passenger in 5 kg increments. If you exceed both your ticket baggage allowance and prepaid baggage, excess baggage charges apply at the airport at the higher per-kg rate.

How does Lion Air calculate extra baggage charges?

Lion Air uses a weight-based (per-kg) system. You purchase a prepaid baggage voucher in 5 kg increments (5/10/15/20/25/30 kg max per passenger). The per-kg rate depends on the route and currency. The prepaid rate is discounted compared to the airport excess baggage rate.

Is it cheaper to buy extra baggage online in advance vs at the airport?

Yes, the prepaid (online) rate is significantly cheaper than the airport excess baggage rate. The discount varies by route — for example, SIN–CGK is SGD 4.00/kg prepaid vs SGD 12.00/kg at the airport.

What are the overweight or oversized baggage rules?

Any baggage exceeding the combined ticket allowance and prepaid voucher weight is charged at the airport excess baggage rate per kg. Surfboard and bicycle handling fees are not included in prepaid baggage and incur separate charges at the airport.

Can I get a refund for prepaid baggage if I cancel my booking?

Prepaid baggage (Bagasi Prabayar) is non-refundable unless cancelled together with the ticket. Unused prepaid baggage allowance cannot be transferred or refunded separately.

Are there any important exceptions or restrictions for prepaid baggage?

Prepaid baggage does not cover surfboard or bicycle handling fees — these are charged separately at the airport. Remaining unused prepaid baggage allowance cannot be carried over or refunded. The maximum prepaid baggage is 30 kg per passenger.
