Steps

  1. Go to aerolineas.com.ar and open 'Equipaje adicional' (Buy extra baggage) at aerolineas.com.ar/equipaje-compra, or select 'Mi reserva' (My booking) on the homepage.
  2. Enter your reservation code and the passenger's surname in the 'Comprar equipaje' form and click 'COMPRAR EQUIPAJE'.
  3. Choose the passenger and route, then select the baggage product (1st additional piece, additional pieces, or special baggage) and review the per-segment price shown.
  4. Complete payment online; the baggage is added to your reservation and no refund applies (this service earns no Aerolineas Plus miles).

Yes. Extra checked bags and special baggage can be bought online at aerolineas.com.ar/equipaje-compra until 1 hour before departure (special baggage until 4 hours before). Excess weight and excess volume can only be paid in person at the airport.

Where do I buy extra baggage?

Online via the 'Equipaje adicional' purchase page (reservation code + passenger surname required), through the contact center and sales offices, or at the airport on the day of the flight at the airport rates.

When is the deadline to buy extra baggage online?

Additional baggage can be bought online until 1 hour before flight departure; special baggage until 4 hours before departure. On the day of the flight you can still buy at the airport at the excess-baggage table rates.

How does Aerolineas Argentinas calculate extra baggage charges?

Fixed per-segment (tramo) amounts by route zone: the 1st bag is charged at the '1st piece' rate and up to 3 more at the 'additional pieces' rate. Domestic routes are priced in ARS; regional and long-haul routes in USD. Final prices include each country's taxes.

Is it cheaper to buy extra baggage online in advance vs at the airport?

How many extra bags can I buy, and what are the bag limits?

Maximum 4 additional pieces plus 4 special pieces per passenger per flight (1 at the 1st-piece rate + 3 at the additional-piece rate). Each additional checked bag may weigh up to 15 kg on domestic flights and 23 kg on regional/international flights (20 kg for Colombia, 25 kg for Mexico). Only suitcases, bags or backpacks qualify as additional baggage.

What are the overweight or oversized baggage rules?

Overweight and oversized pieces are charged only at the airport, and charges accumulate if more than one limit is exceeded. Weight excess is priced per bracket (16-23 kg or 24-32 kg); within Argentina and to Chile the excess purchase limit is 23 kg and 32 kg on other routes — beyond that the piece must go via Aerolineas Cargo. Pieces over 158 cm up to 300 cm total dimensions pay the excess-volume charge; over 300 cm they must go via Cargo.

Do partner-operated or codeshare flights have different baggage rules?

Yes. On itineraries with another airline issued on one ticket where Aerolineas Argentinas operates the first leg, fixed interline excess charges apply (e.g. USD 73 within South America, USD/EUR 121 to Europe) payable only at the airport; if the other airline operates the first leg, its own charges apply.

Can I pay for extra baggage with cards or miles?

Payment is made with standard card payment online or at the sales channels. This service does not earn Aerolineas Plus miles, and a credit-tax receipt (constancia de crédito fiscal) can be requested for Argentine purchases.

Can I get a refund for extra baggage if I cancel or change my booking?

No. All additional services (additional and special baggage) are non-refundable (todos los servicios adicionales no tienen devolución).

Are there any important exceptions or restrictions I should know?

Tickets purchased in Brazil or Chile cannot be topped up online — buy via contact center or at the airport. Carry-on baggage is sold only for tickets issued from 19/05/2026. Infants on international flights get one free checked piece up to 10 kg / 115 cm, and children under 12 get the same allowance as adults plus a free folded stroller or car seat.
