Steps
- Book a Juneyao-operated domestic flight first, then go to juneyaoair.com, open '自助服务' (Self-service) in the top navigation and select '额外行李' (Extra baggage), or use the Juneyao Airlines APP / WeChat mini-program.
- On the '购买额外行李' (Buy extra baggage) tab, enter the traveller's document number or ticket number, passenger name, and flight number, then click '查询航班' (Query flight).
- Optionally click '查看行李价格标准' (View baggage price standard) and query the per-kg rate for your departure city, arrival city and flight date before buying.
- Select the extra baggage allowance you need (sold in 1 kg units) and complete the payment online.

Prepaid extra baggage (domestic)
Juneyao sells extra checked-baggage weight in 1 kg units for its own-operated domestic flights (excluding Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan). Purchase is available online after ticketing and before check-in; rates are set per route and displayed by the official price query tool.

Overweight baggage fees

Can I buy extra baggage online after booking?
Yes. After your ticket is issued and before check-in, buy extra baggage on juneyaoair.com ('自助服务' → '额外行李'), in the Juneyao Airlines APP, or in the WeChat mini-program. The product only applies to Juneyao-operated domestic flights (excluding Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan) and is not available for connecting or codeshare flights.
Where do I buy extra baggage?

When is the deadline to buy extra baggage online?
Extra baggage can be bought from when direct-channel sales open until before the flight's departure cut-off ('航班截载前'), and only after the ticket has been issued and before check-in. Buying online in advance is recommended — the purchase page advertises an early-bird price advantage over airport rates.
How many extra bags can I buy, and what are the bag limits?
Extra baggage is sold as weight in 1 kg units (not as whole bags), and the same ticket can be used for multiple purchases of extra allowance. Domestic checked baggage must not exceed 50 kg and 100×60×40 cm per piece; international pieces must not exceed 45 kg (32 kg on European and Australian routes) and 203 cm total dimensions.
How does Juneyao Airlines calculate extra baggage charges?
Domestic routes use a weight system: excess baggage is charged at 1.5% of the highest one-way direct economy-class adult fare per kg. The online prepaid product is sold per kg with route-specific rates. International routes charge fixed fees per piece for overweight (24-32 kg, 32-45 kg) and oversized (159-203 cm, above 203 cm) bags, with different amounts on European/Australian routes.
Is it cheaper to buy extra baggage online in advance vs at the airport?
Yes. On the sampled domestic routes (e.g. Shanghai–Beijing, Shanghai–Guangzhou, Shanghai–Urumqi, Shanghai–Shenzhen) the official price query tool shows the website rate at RMB 126/kg versus RMB 140/kg at the airport — roughly 10% cheaper online. Exact rates vary by route and are shown by the '查看行李价格标准' (View baggage price standard) tool.
What are the overweight or oversized baggage rules?
On international and regional routes (excluding Europe and Australia): overweight 24-32 kg costs RMB 1000/piece, 32-45 kg costs RMB 2000/piece, and oversized 159-203 cm costs RMB 1000/piece, with fees added accumulatively if both apply. On European and Australian routes: 24-32 kg overweight or 159-203 cm oversized costs RMB 600/piece with no accumulation. Domestic routes charge by weight at 1.5% of the highest one-way economy fare per kg.
Can I get a refund or transfer extra baggage if I cancel or change my booking?
Extra baggage can only be bought in full and refunded in full. It is not refundable if the ticket has been used normally. If the ticket is unused, voluntarily rescheduled or voluntarily refunded, you can apply for a full refund through the original purchase channel. On involuntary schedule changes or refunds, a full refund can be applied for through the original channel.
Are there any important exceptions or restrictions I should know?
The online prepaid extra-baggage product is only for Juneyao-operated domestic flights, does not cover Hong Kong/Macao/Taiwan or codeshare flights, and is not applicable to connecting flights (connecting passengers pay excess baggage at the airport counter). Unused purchased weight is not refunded. Only electronic invoices are available, applied for via the APP or WeChat mini-program within one year after the trip.
