FAQ

Can I buy extra baggage online after booking?

Yes. Select your baggage allocation during online booking on jambojet.com, or add baggage later through Manage Booking before your flight.

Where do I buy extra baggage?

Buy prepaid baggage on jambojet.com during booking, in Manage Booking for existing reservations, at Jambojet sales offices, via the call centre (a KES 800 service charge may apply), or at the airport at double the prepaid rate.

When is the deadline to buy extra baggage online?

Book baggage in advance (prepaid) before your flight. Any unbooked or additional baggage presented at the airport is charged at the higher airport rate, double the published prepaid rates.

How does the airline calculate extra baggage charges?

Checked baggage is sold in prepaid weight groups: up to 23 kg for KES 1,000 and 24-32 kg for KES 2,500. Any weight above the purchased allowance attracts an excess charge of KES 400 per extra kg at the airport.

Is it cheaper to buy extra baggage online in advance vs at the airport?

Yes. Prepaid baggage (up to 23 kg KES 1,000; 24-32 kg KES 2,500) is half the airport price (up to 23 kg KES 2,000; 24-32 kg KES 4,000). The airline encourages booking baggage in advance.

How many extra bags can I buy, and what are the bag limits?

Each passenger may purchase up to 2 checked-in (hold) bags. Prepaid weight groups are 0-23 kg and 24-32 kg per bag. Hand luggage is limited to 1 piece of max 10 kg (55 x 35 x 25 cm).

What are the overweight or oversized baggage rules?

Weight above the purchased allowance is charged KES 400 per extra kg at the airport. Oversize hand baggage that is within the weight limit is accepted as hold luggage at a charge. Dangerous goods are not allowed in checked baggage.

Are there any important exceptions or restrictions I should know?

Bicycles are always treated as excess baggage and excess charges apply. Diving equipment follows standard baggage rules with a special excess charge where allowance is exceeded; fishing equipment within allowance is normal, with the normal excess charge per kilo beyond that.

Can I pay for extra baggage with cards, loyalty points, or miles?

Online payments accepted include Visa, Mastercard, M-Pesa (paybill 737700), Airtel Money and Equitel (paybill 737700). Cash over the counter is accepted at Jambojet offices.

Can I get a refund or transfer extra baggage if I cancel or change my booking?

Jambojet does not publish a separate refund or transfer policy for prepaid baggage. Jambojet tickets are non-refundable, and no refunds are given if a booking is cancelled.
