FAQ

Can I buy extra baggage online after booking?

No. Conviasa does not offer online pre-purchase of extra baggage; excess and additional pieces are paid at the airport.

Where do I buy extra baggage?

Excess and additional pieces are handled at the Conviasa airport check-in counter; tickets and assistance are also available at Conviasa commercial sales offices (Oficinas de Ventas).

How does the airline calculate extra baggage charges?

Excess weight is charged per kilogram according to aircraft and route (domestic from 1% of the base one-way fare + VAT per kg; international USD 3-6 per kg), while additional pieces on international routes have flat fees (USD 150 on the A-340, USD 100 on the E-190). All published tariffs exclude VAT.

How many extra bags can I buy, and what are the bag limits?

On larger aircraft each checked bag must not exceed 23 kg per piece or 150 cm total dimensions (length + width + height) with 90 cm max length; hand baggage must not exceed 60 x 40 x 30 cm. Only suitcase-type checked bags and backpack-type hand bags are accepted. Stricter limits apply on ATR-42 and Caravan C-208 flights (see Exceptions).

What are the overweight or oversized baggage rules?

On larger aircraft, checked bags are limited to 23 kg per piece and 150 cm total dimensions; weight above the free allowance is charged at the per-kg excess tariff and bags above the limits may be denied at check-in. No separate overweight or oversized fee table is published. ATR-42 and C-208 flights have stricter limits (see Exceptions).

Are there any important exceptions or restrictions I should know?

On ATR-42 flights passengers are limited to 10 kg total including handbags, with zero excess allowed. On Caravan C-208 flights excess baggage and additional pieces are prohibited, and international special baggage is not available (a domestic C-208 special-baggage tariff of USD 3/kg is published but its availability is uncertain — confirm with the airline). TVs up to 50 inches and audio systems are accepted; air conditioners, hoverboards, segways, airwheels and e-bikes are prohibited.
