FAQ

Can I buy extra baggage online after booking?

Yes. Prepaid baggage can be bought online after booking, up to 2 days before departure (Korean time), at discounted rates versus airport prices.

Where do I buy extra baggage?

Online via My Reservation Inquiry on en.airbusan.com (Search by Reservation Number, then Seat Assignment/Additional Service Application), during initial booking at STEP 3, or at the airport counter on the day of departure at regular fares.

When is the deadline to buy extra baggage online?

Prepaid baggage can be bought and refunded until 2 days before departure. From 1 day before departure through the departure date, prepaid baggage can no longer be bought, cancelled, or refunded.

How does the airline calculate extra baggage charges?

Charges are weight-based per kg (sold online in 5 kg units), except US (Guam) routes which are piece-based. Fees are charged per route on a one-way basis, and connecting itineraries combine the fare of each route.

Is it cheaper to buy extra baggage online in advance vs at the airport?

Yes. Prepaid online rates are about one-third lower than airport excess rates (for example domestic KRW 10,000 versus KRW 15,000 per 5 kg; Japan KRW 40,000 versus KRW 60,000 per 5 kg). Airport purchases use the regular excess fare table.

How many extra bags can I buy, and what are the bag limits?

Each checked piece must not exceed 32 kg or 203 cm total dimensions (158 cm on American routes). Carry-on is limited to 1 piece within 10 kg and 115 cm total dimensions.

What are the overweight or oversized baggage rules?

On US (Guam) routes, exceeding the piece limit or the 23-32 kg overweight band each costs KRW 50,000 (USD 50). Baggage over 203 cm or 32 kg is not accepted for transport; if carriage is exceptionally approved, a KRW 10,000 (USD 10) handling fee applies on top of excess charges.

Can I pay for extra baggage with cards, loyalty points, or miles?

For departures outside Korea, excess and prepaid baggage can only be paid in the local currency. Currency equivalents follow approximately 1,000 KRW = 1 USD = 100 JPY = 6 CNY/HKD/MOP = 25 TWD = 40 PHP = 60 RUB = 30 THB.

Can I get a refund or transfer extra baggage if I cancel or change my booking?

Prepaid baggage is refundable until 2 days before departure; from 1 day before departure through the departure date, cancellation and refund are not available.

Are there any important exceptions or restrictions I should know?

Super special, promotion, special, and event fares include no free checked baggage, so a prepaid baggage or bundle purchase is needed. Gate check-in is unavailable on some China routes: Qingdao (TAO), Zhangjiajie (DYG), Yanji (YNJ), Sanya (SYX), and Xi'an (XIY). Codeshare and group reservations can also buy bundles.
