FAQ

Can I buy extra baggage online after booking?

Yes — prepaid baggage can be purchased on airpremia.com, the mobile app, or via the reservation center up to 48 hours before departure. Passengers on codeshare flights or connecting flights operated by partner airlines cannot purchase prepaid baggage.

Where do I buy extra baggage?

Prepaid baggage: airpremia.com (Booking lookup / My Trip), the Air Premia mobile app, or the reservation center (1800-2626 in Korea). On the day of departure it can also be bought at the check-in counter, but airport (on-site) rates apply.

When is the deadline to buy extra baggage online?

Discounted prepaid rates are available until 48 hours before departure. After that, only airport on-site rates at the check-in counter apply.

How does Air Premia calculate extra baggage charges?

Charges are zone-based (Northeast Asia / Southeast Asia / Americas · Europe) and apply either per extra piece (max 23 kg) or per weight tier (24–28 kg / 29–32 kg). The currency follows the first departure point: KRW for Korea departures, USD/JPY/HKD/THB/EUR for local departures (Vietnam departures are always charged in USD).

Is it cheaper to buy extra baggage online in advance vs at the airport?

Yes — prepaid rates are discounted. Example (Northeast Asia, Korea departure): an extra piece costs KRW 60,000 prepaid vs KRW 70,000 at the airport, and overweight is charged per kg at the airport (KRW 10,000/kg) instead of fixed prepaid tiers (KRW 25,000 / 50,000).

How many extra bags can I buy, and what are the bag limits?

Up to 2 extra pieces per person prepaid, and the overweight upgrade can be selected once. Each piece must not exceed 32 kg and 158 cm total dimensions; pieces over 32 kg may be refused. Free checked allowance: to the Americas 2×23 kg (Economy Flex/Standard), 1×23 kg (Economy Lite), 2×32 kg (Wide Premium); to other regions 1×23 kg / 1×15 kg / 1×32 kg respectively. Two passengers on the same booking can pool piece counts at check-in, but not weights.

What are the overweight or oversized baggage rules?

Prepaid overweight is sold in two tiers (24–28 kg and 29–32 kg); Economy Lite and Wide Premium can only add pieces, not weight. At the airport, overweight is charged per kg (Economy Lite per kg above its 15 kg allowance) and oversized bags (159–203 cm / 204–292 cm) incur separate size fees. Excess carry-on checked at the gate is charged per kg.

Can I get a refund for extra baggage if I cancel or change my booking?

Prepaid baggage can be cancelled and refunded up to 48 hours before departure; within 48 hours it is non-refundable (except for airline-caused cancellations). If the itinerary is changed before the 48-hour cut-off, prepaid baggage is auto-cancelled with a refund. Refunds are processed on the website or via the reservation center. Prepaid baggage is non-transferable.

Do partner-operated or codeshare flights have different baggage rules?

Yes — prepaid baggage cannot be purchased for codeshare flights or connecting flights operated by partner airlines, and different baggage rules may apply on segments operated by other airlines.

Are there any important exceptions or restrictions I should know?

Economy Lite and Wide Premium cannot buy prepaid overweight — pieces only. The currency for the entire itinerary follows the first departure point (Vietnam always USD). Bookings made through other channels can still get prepaid baggage via the Air Premia website/app using the airline booking reference. Prepaid baggage can only be used at the check-in counter, not at the gate.
