FAQ

Can I buy extra baggage online before my US-Bangla flight?

No. There is no online purchase flow for extra baggage on usbair.com. Excess weight is charged per kg at the airport check-in counter, and prepaid excess baggage packages (up to 23 kg per piece, SAR 300-350) are sold only in Saudi Arabia at city sales offices and airport counters.

Where do I buy extra baggage?

At the airport check-in counter, where weight above your free allowance is charged per kg at the published sector rate. On Saudi Arabia routes you can instead buy prepaid packages at US-Bangla city sales offices or airport counters before departure. The rate table is on the 'Purchase Extra Baggage' page (usbair.com/purchase-extra-baggage).

How does US-Bangla calculate extra baggage charges?

Weight-based: you pay per kg above your free allowance, and per-kg rates differ by route and direction. From Bangladesh rates are USD 5-20/kg by destination (e.g. USD 5/kg to Kolkata, USD 20/kg to Saudi Arabia); inbound rates are in local currency (e.g. INR 350/kg from Kolkata, THB 290/kg from Bangkok, SAR 45/kg from Saudi Arabia); domestic excess is BDT 150/kg.

What are the baggage limits on US-Bangla?

International default: Economy 20 kg, Business 30 kg, with higher route-specific allowances on many sectors (e.g. Economy up to 40 kg, Business up to 64 kg); maximum 30 kg per single piece; per-piece dimensions 40 x 60 x 100 cm; cabin baggage 7 kg max (15 x 22 x 35 cm); infants 10 kg with no cabin bag. Domestic: 20 kg checked plus 7 kg cabin; infants 10 kg.

When should I buy extra baggage?

There is no online purchase window. Prepaid packages on Saudi Arabia routes must be bought before departure at a city sales office or airport counter; for all other routes excess baggage is paid at check-in. The prepaid package policy is effective from 10 April 2025 until further notice.

Is prepaid excess baggage cheaper than paying per kg at the airport?

On Saudi Arabia routes, yes: a prepaid piece of up to 23 kg costs SAR 300 (Jeddah/Medina) or SAR 350 (Riyadh/Dammam), versus the SAR 45/kg excess rate (about SAR 1,035 for 23 kg paid per kg). No online discount exists because there is no online purchase channel.

What are the overweight and oversized baggage rules?

Weight above the free allowance is charged per kg using the sector excess rate. The maximum single checked piece is 30 kg and checked bags may not exceed 40 x 60 x 100 cm per piece; US-Bangla does not publish separate overweight or oversized fee amounts.

Do connecting flights have different baggage rules?

Passengers connecting on any US-Bangla flight get the international free baggage allowance. International connecting passengers from another carrier get 10 kg extra free baggage on domestic legs, and on BS international sectors get FBA per IATA rules or the most significant carrier. Prepaid baggage from another carrier is not accepted on BS flights if it exceeds the regular free allowance.

Can I get a refund for prepaid extra baggage?

Prepaid excess baggage is completely non-refundable, but it can be changed if the original ticket is changed.

Are there exceptions to the baggage rules?

Sky Star members get extra free baggage allowance: Platinum +5 kg and Titanium +10 kg. Free allowances vary by route and cabin class - check the route-specific table under Baggage Information > Check Baggage Allowance on usbair.com.
