FAQ

Can I buy extra baggage online after booking?

Yes. The prepaid additional piece can be purchased online through My bookings on tunisair.com from Tunisia to all destinations, and from Europe and Morocco to Tunisia, as long as it is bought at least 24 hours before departure. Overweight, oversized and pet charges are paid at the airport.

Where do I buy extra baggage?

Buy the prepaid additional piece via "My bookings" on tunisair.com (booking reference + last name), at the airport on the day of travel, or at Tunisair agencies. Fidelys members can also redeem Award Miles for an Excess Luggage Award at a Tunisair agency.

When is the deadline to buy extra baggage online?

The prepaid additional piece must be purchased at least 24 hours before the scheduled departure time. Only one prepaid piece can be bought per passenger per flight.

How does Tunisair calculate extra baggage charges?

Tunisair uses a piece-based "Piece Concept". Charges depend on 5 route zones (Zone 1: Europe excl. Russia, Morocco, Algeria; Zone 2: Egypt, Lebanon, Türkiye, Russia; Zone 3: Saudi Arabia, West Africa; Zone 4: Canada and connections via Tunisia; Zone 5: Libya), the direction of travel (billed in TND from Tunisia, in EUR or USD/CHF/GBP/CAD/LYD from abroad), the type of excess (extra piece, overweight 23–32 kg, oversized 158–203 cm, pets), and some rates vary by travel period. Excess charges for pieces, weight and dimensions are summed.

Is it cheaper to buy extra baggage online in advance vs at the airport?

Yes. The prepaid additional piece is sold with a reduction compared to the price charged on the day of the flight. Example: from Europe to Tunisia the prepaid piece costs 45–55 €/£/CHF, while the 1st additional piece at the airport is 75 EUR (Zone 1).

How many extra bags can I buy, and what are the bag limits?

A maximum of 10 checked pieces per passenger is allowed. Free allowances are route- and cabin-based: Tunisia–Europe (Algeria, Morocco) 1×23 kg economy / 2×23 kg business; Tunisia–Middle East, West Africa and North America 2×23 kg economy / 3×23 kg business; Tunisia–Libya 1×32 kg economy / 2×23 kg business. Standard pieces must not exceed 23 kg and 158 cm (H+L+W); pieces over 32 kg go through Cargo. Hand baggage: 1 piece 8 kg in economy, 2 pieces 10 kg total in business, max 115 cm.

What are the overweight or oversized baggage rules?

Baggage weighing 23–32 kg or measuring 158–203 cm total dimensions is charged a zone-based fee at the airport (e.g., from Tunisia Zone 1: 125/150 TND overweight, 150 TND oversized). Bags over 32 kg must be shipped via the Cargo department. Charges for extra pieces, overweight and oversized are summed. Overweight and oversized are not covered by the prepaid online extra piece.

Do partner-operated or codeshare flights have different baggage rules?

Yes. The prepaid additional piece is not applicable to 199-ticket holders on flights operated by foreign airlines, on TUNISAIR Express (UG) flights, or on codeshare flights. Check the operating carrier's baggage rules on such itineraries.

Can I pay for extra baggage with cards, loyalty points, or miles?

Fidelys members can redeem Award Miles for an Excess Luggage Award (up to 2 pieces of 23 kg per flight, one-way only, valid 3 months) at a Tunisair agency in Tunisia or abroad.

Can I get a refund or transfer extra baggage if I cancel or change my booking?

The prepaid additional piece is non-refundable but exchangeable. It can only be used for a single bag of up to 23 kg and 158 cm, and not for animals or sports equipment.

Are there any important exceptions or restrictions I should know?

The prepaid extra piece is not valid for pets or sports equipment, and applies only to 199-ticket Tunisair flights. Some aircraft types and destinations restrict pet carriage. Service dogs and wheelchairs for reduced-mobility passengers travel free, and infants without a seat get one 10 kg piece plus a stroller or car seat.
