Fees range from 60 EUR (short-haul low season) to over 200 EUR (intercontinental high season). Combined overweight + oversized fees are 2x the individual fee. What are the weight and size limits for checked baggage?
Maximum weight per bag: 23 kg (50 lbs) in Economy Class, 32 kg (70 lbs) in Business Class. Maximum dimensions: 158 cm (62 in) total linear dimensions (height + length + width). Bags over 32 kg must be transported as Cargo.
When is the deadline to buy extra baggage online?
Purchase extra baggage anytime before flight through Manage Booking or during online check-in (up to 24h before departure for sports equipment). Online advance purchase offers better rates than airport purchase.
What payment methods are accepted for extra baggage?
Pay with credit/debit cards or TAP Miles&Go miles (sports equipment: from 9,000 miles; musical instruments: from 10,000 miles). For transactions outside Europe using local currency, fees are converted from fixed USD amount to local currency (except Canada which uses fixed CAD rate).
Can I get a refund if I cancel extra baggage after purchasing?
The value of extra hold baggage service is non-refundable, even if the Upgrade service is purchased. However, if the original fare is changed and reissued in a Business Class fare that already includes the service, you may request a refund.
Do partner-operated or codeshare flights have different baggage rules?
For flights to/from the US or Canada, the baggage allowance of the first flight's carrier code applies. For other routes, the carrier of the most relevant flight (intercontinental first, then first international within continent) determines the allowance. On codeshare flights, the marketing carrier's rules apply.
