Yes, you can buy extra checked bags online through My trips on flysas.com up to 22 hours before departure. Sports equipment (golf, skis, snowboard, bike) can also be added online up to 24 hours before departure.
Where do I buy extra baggage?
Go to flysas.com, log in or navigate to My trips, retrieve your booking, and select 'Add baggage'. You can also add baggage during the initial booking process. Overweight and oversized baggage fees must be paid at the airport.
When is the deadline to buy extra baggage online?
Extra checked bags can be purchased online up to 22 hours before departure. Sports equipment can be added up to 24 hours before departure. After these deadlines, you must pay at the airport.
How does SAS calculate extra baggage charges?
SAS charges a fixed fee per extra checked bag, per one-way flight. The price depends on your route, ticket type (Light vs Standard/Premium/Business), how far in advance you purchase, and how many bags you add. A maximum of 9 bags per passenger is allowed.
Is it cheaper to buy extra baggage online in advance vs at the airport?
Yes. Online prepaid fees are significantly lower than the flat rate applied less than 22 hours before departure. For example, on European routes a Light ticket's 1st bag costs from EUR 30 online in advance, rising to a flat EUR 75 less than 22 hours before departure.
How many extra bags can I buy, and what are the bag limits?
You can purchase up to 9 checked bags per passenger. Each checked bag must not exceed 32 kg and 158 cm total dimensions (length + width + height). Carry-on bags are limited to 8 kg with dimensions of 55 x 40 x 23 cm, plus an underseat bag of 40 x 30 x 15 cm.
What are the overweight or oversized baggage rules?
Bags weighing 23–32 kg incur an overweight fee payable only at the airport. Fees range from DKK 410–1000 depending on route and weight tier. Items exceeding 158 cm total dimensions are classified as special baggage. For flights to/from Greenland, the maximum checked baggage weight is 30 kg.
Are there any important exceptions or restrictions I should know about?
Yes. Flights to/from Greenland have a 30 kg max checked baggage weight instead of 32 kg. Beirut-only late purchase fees (less than 22 hours) are DKK 895 / EUR 120 / USD 140, higher than other routes. Special baggage rules on SAS charter flights may differ — check with your tour operator. Electric bicycles must be transported as cargo; tandem bicycles are not accepted.
Can I pay for extra baggage with cards or loyalty points?
Online purchases via My trips accept major credit cards (Mastercard, Visa, American Express, Diners Club, Discover, UATP) and PayPal. Airport payments may have different options.
Can I get a refund or transfer extra baggage if I cancel or change my booking?
SAS does not publish a fixed refund policy for prepaid baggage — refunds and changes follow the fare rules of your ticket. Check your booking terms or contact SAS Customer Service.
Do partner-operated or codeshare flights have different baggage rules?
Different rules may apply for special baggage on SAS charter flights. Check charter flight information or contact your travel agent before departure. For codeshare flights, the operating carrier's baggage rules may apply.
