How to Add Extra Baggage & Prices on Pacific Airlines

Buy Baggage
  1. Go to vietnamairlines.com or open the Vietnam Airlines app (Pacific Airlines bookings and extra services are handled there since the June 2024 service synchronization) and retrieve your booking in Manage Booking.
  2. Open Buy additional services (Buy ancillaries) and select Prepaid baggage.
  3. Select the flight segment and the number of extra pieces, then complete payment online.
  4. Keep the confirmation to present with your ticket at check-in.

Prepaid standard pieces (23 kg / 158 cm) bought in advance via Vietnam Airlines channels, saving up to 50 percent versus airport rates. All rates are VAT exclusive. Can I buy extra baggage online after booking?

Yes. Prepaid baggage can be bought online via the Vietnam Airlines website/app (Pacific Airlines tickets are managed there), up to 15 pieces per passenger, for tickets operated by Vietnam Airlines or Pacific Airlines except flights using ATR 72 aircraft.

Where do I buy extra baggage?

At Vietnam Airlines sales offices and agents, during online booking on the Vietnam Airlines website/app, after ticket issuance in Manage Booking under Buy additional services (Buy ancillaries) / Prepaid baggage, or directly at the airport.

When is the deadline to buy extra baggage online?

Prepaid baggage must be purchased at least 3 hours before the flight's departure time, including after online check-in. After that cutoff, extra baggage can only be bought at the airport.

Is it cheaper to buy extra baggage online in advance vs at the airport?

Yes. Prepaid baggage bought in advance costs up to 50% less than excess baggage at the airport (e.g. domestic VND 300,000 prepaid versus VND 600,000 at the airport for tickets issued/changed before 01 June 2026).

How does the airline calculate extra baggage charges?

Extra baggage uses a piece concept: each prepaid or airport excess piece is a standard piece of up to 23 kg and 158 cm total dimensions. Domestic routes charge a flat VND rate per piece; international routes charge USD rates by itinerary band in peak periods and by origin/destination zone pair in other periods. All published rates are VAT exclusive.

What are the overweight or oversized baggage rules?

Overweight pieces (23-32 kg) cost VND 800,000 per piece on domestic routes and USD 80-200 by zone on international routes; oversized pieces (158-203 cm) cost VND 800,000 per piece domestically and USD 110-260 by zone internationally. If checked baggage at the airport exceeds the free plus prepaid allowance, the remainder is charged at airport excess rates. These are airport-assessed fees, not online-purchasable products.

Can I get a refund or transfer extra baggage if I cancel or change my booking?

Prepaid baggage is valid only for the flight and ticket purchased and cannot be refunded, transferred to another passenger, or exchanged for other services, except that completely unused prepaid baggage on tickets with itineraries originating in Korea is refundable with a 25% refund fee. Prepaid baggage can be changed with a flight/itinerary change to equal or higher cost, at least 3 hours before the new flight segment.

Are there any important exceptions or restrictions I should know?

Prepaid baggage does not apply on flights operated with ATR 72 aircraft. Free checked baggage allowance may vary by itinerary and fare type; passengers should check their allowance in Manage Booking or the Baggage Calculator. The official page grants Lotusmiles and SkyTeam members extra free pieces on flights operated by Vietnam Airlines, and does not state whether this extends to Pacific Airlines-operated flights.
