Steps
- Go to lam.co.mz and start a new booking in the Reservas Online (online booking) widget on the home page.
- Select your route, travel dates and number of passengers, then search for flights.
- In the booking flow, add the Bagagem Expresso service (one extra piece) to your selected flight.
- Complete payment online — the express baggage voucher is attached to your ticket, showing the ticket number and route.
- If your ticket was issued by a travel agency, go to a LAM sales store to buy the express baggage voucher (online purchase is not available in that case).

One extra piece (23 kg Economy / 32 kg Executive) can be prepaid at a flat route-based rate via the Bagagem Expresso service on domestic flights: MZN 2,400, 2,800 or 3,200 depending on the route, from 20% below the excess baggage tariff charged at check-in. Purchase online with your ticket on lam.co.mz or at LAM stores, up to 24 hours before departure.

Can I buy extra baggage online for my LAM flight?
Yes. The Bagagem Expresso service lets you prepay one extra piece (23 kg Economy / 32 kg Executive) when buying your ticket on lam.co.mz. If your ticket was issued by a travel agency, you must buy the express baggage voucher at a LAM sales store instead.
Where can I buy extra baggage?

When is the deadline to buy extra baggage online?
Bagagem Expresso must be purchased up to 24 hours before the departure time of your flight.
How does LAM calculate extra baggage charges?
Domestic routes use a piece concept. One extra piece costs a flat route-based rate: MZN 2,400, 2,800 or 3,200 prepaid online, or MZN 3,000, 3,500 or 4,000 at the airport. A 2nd piece costs MZN 500 more and a 3rd piece MZN 1,000 more for the same route.
Is it cheaper to buy extra baggage online in advance?
Yes — prepaid Bagagem Expresso rates start at 20% below the excess baggage tariff charged at check-in.
How many bags can I take and what are the size and weight limits?
The free checked allowance is one piece of up to 23 kg (Economy) or 32 kg (Executive), maximum 90 x 55 x 30 cm. Bagagem Expresso adds one extra piece, and up to 3 additional volumes can be bought at the airport. On Maputo–Johannesburg, two pieces (23 kg Economy / 32 kg Executive) are included free.
What happens if my bag is overweight?
Baggage above the free weight allowance is charged at check-in per the route-based excess baggage table — MZN 3,000, 3,500 or 4,000 for the excess weight (heavy bag) charge depending on the route. Excess weight cannot be prepaid online.
Are there exceptions to the baggage rules?
Yes. The Maputo–Johannesburg route includes two free pieces (23 kg Economy / 32 kg Executive). Flamingo Club members get extra free baggage by card tier: Economy 1 x 32 kg for Plus/Silver/Visa Gold/Visa Platinum and 1 x 28 kg for Classic/Blue/Visa Standard, with 2 x 32 kg in Executive for both tiers.
How can I pay for extra baggage online?
Online payments on lam.co.mz are processed by an international payment provider (card payments), which may add foreign-exchange and bank fees on top of the ticket price since 1 February 2026. The M-Pesa online payment service is temporarily suspended.
