FAQ
Can I buy extra baggage online after booking?
Yes. You can purchase checked baggage during the ticket booking process on croatiaairlines.com, or later via My Bookings with your booking reference and last name. Online purchase must be completed no later than 2 hours before scheduled departure.
Where do I buy extra baggage?
Buy it during the ticket purchase on the website, later via My Bookings, through the Contact Centre (+385 72 500 505 or +385 1 6676 555), at Croatia Airlines sales offices, or at the departure airport.
When is the deadline to buy extra baggage online?
Online purchase must be completed no later than 2 hours before departure. For the lowest FlyEasy first-bag rate (EUR 30), buy at least 24 hours before departure — within 24 hours the price rises to EUR 40.
Is it cheaper to buy extra baggage online in advance vs at the airport?
Yes. FlyEasy first checked bag is EUR 30 when bought 24+ hours before departure vs. EUR 40 within 24 hours or at the airport. For international flights bought on the day of departure at Croatian or Bosnian airports, an additional EUR 10 surcharge applies.
How many extra bags can I buy, and what are the bag limits?
There is no published maximum on the number of extra bags you can purchase. Each piece must not exceed 32 kg (70 lb) and must be declared at the time of booking. Dimensions above 158 cm incur oversized fees.
How does Croatia Airlines calculate extra baggage charges?
Charges are per piece, per direction, and depend on your fare family (FlyEasy, FlyOpti, FlyFlexi, FlyBWise, FlyBizz), route type (within EU vs. domestic), weight (up to 23 kg vs. 23–32 kg), and dimensions (up to 158 cm vs. over 158 cm). The maximum handling weight per piece is 32 kg.
What are the overweight or oversized baggage rules?
Bags over 23 kg up to 32 kg incur an overweight fee (EUR 60 for a free-allowance piece, EUR 125 for an extra piece within EU). Bags over 158 cm incur an oversized fee (EUR 60–125 within EU depending on fare and whether it is a free or extra piece). A bag that is both overweight and oversized is charged the combined 'bigger & heavy' fee (EUR 125–175 within EU).
Do partner-operated or codeshare flights have different baggage rules?
Yes. When a Croatia Airlines flight is combined with another airline, the baggage rules of the airline operating the longest or most significant route apply. On OU codeshare partner flights, that partner airline's baggage concept applies. Check with the operating carrier for their rules.
Can I get a refund or transfer extra baggage if I cancel or change my booking?
No. The first checked bag fee is non-refundable. Excess baggage charges and sports equipment fees can only be cancelled/refunded before flight departure — after departure, refund is not permitted.
Are there any important exceptions or restrictions I should know?
Infants on FlyEasy fares cannot purchase a first extra bag. Miles & More elite members (HON Circle, Senator, Star Gold) receive additional free baggage allowance beyond the standard fare family limits. For journeys outside Europe, interline partner baggage policies apply.
