FAQ

Can I buy extra baggage online after booking?

Yes. Retrieve your booking on the Manage My Booking page (booking reference + last name) and add checked bags. The Caribbean Airlines mobile app also lets you pay for extra baggage. Purchasing more than 24 hours before departure saves USD 5 per bag.

Where do I buy extra baggage?

Online via Manage My Booking at digital.caribbean-airlines.com, through the mobile app during the booking process, or at the airport during check-in. Excess, overweight and oversized baggage fees must be paid at the airport.

When should I buy extra baggage?

Buy more than 24 hours before departure to save USD 5 per checked bag. Within 24 hours of departure, standard baggage fees apply. Peak-period surcharges apply from 1-7 Jan, 1 Jul-7 Sep and 23 Nov-31 Dec.

How many bags can I take, and what are the size limits?

Each checked bag must be max 23 kg (50 lb) and max 157 cm (62 in) linear. Bags over 32 kg and/or 292 cm are not accepted as checked baggage - use Caribbean Airlines Cargo instead. Every passenger also gets one carry-on up to 10 kg (56 x 35 x 23 cm) plus one personal item.

How are extra baggage charges calculated?

Per piece, based on your branded fare (Lite, Classic, Flex, Biz, Biz Flex), the bag number (1st-4th) and the route. International fees start at USD 35 for a Lite fare 1st bag (off-peak, pre-purchased >24h). Fees apply per one-way sector and Lite fares include no free checked bag.

Is it cheaper to buy extra baggage in advance vs at the airport?

Yes. Pre-purchasing more than 24 hours before departure saves USD 5 per bag compared with the standard fee paid within 24 hours of departure or at the airport. Peak-period fees are higher regardless of purchase channel.

What are the overweight and oversized baggage rules?

Bags over 23 kg up to 32 kg, and/or over 157 cm up to 292 cm linear, are charged USD 75 (regional/international) or USD 120 (transatlantic) per applicable fee. Overweight and oversized charges are cumulative and must be paid at the airport; bags over 32 kg / 292 cm must go via Cargo.

Do codeshare flights have different baggage rules?

Yes. On itineraries that include transatlantic/codeshare flights, the 1st and 2nd bags cost USD 120 / EUR 100 (Lite and Classic) and the 3rd/4th bags cost USD 175 / EUR 155. Second-bag fee waivers for Caribbean Miles members and students do not apply on codeshare flights.

How can I pay for extra baggage?

Online payments accept Visa, MasterCard, American Express, UATP and PayPal. Excess, overweight and oversized baggage at the airport is paid at check-in.

Are there any restrictions I should know?

During embargo periods, excess baggage, boxes and overweight/oversized bags are not accepted to/from Grenada and North America (Summer: 1 Jun-30 Sep; Winter: 1-31 Jan and 1-31 Dec) and must ship via Cargo. On continuous Caribbean Airlines + Air Caraibes journeys, baggage fees are collected once at the first point of departure.
