FAQ

Can I buy extra baggage online after booking?

Yes. XTRA BAG can be booked online on aircaraibes.com until the check-in deadline of your flight, either while booking (step 4, 'VIP Services') or after booking via Manage my booking.

Where do I buy extra baggage?

On www.aircaraibes.com during booking or in Manage my booking, at Air Caraïbes points of sale, at travel agencies, or via the reservation call center 0 820 835 835.

When is the deadline to buy extra baggage online?

You can buy XTRA BAG until the check-in deadline of your flight departure. Air Caraïbes recommends booking extra bags in advance: requests made less than 48h before departure are subject to cargo availability.

How does Air Caraïbes calculate extra baggage charges?

Pricing depends on the network: XTRA BAG costs from 80 € per person per trip on transatlantic flights (or from 12,000 convertible miles) and from 30 € on regional routes (or from 2,000 miles). Bags beyond the free allowance are charged a flat 110 € per bag per trip on transatlantic flights.

How many extra bags can I buy, and what are the bag limits?

Up to 6 checked bags per passenger on transatlantic flights (allowance included) and up to 3 on regional routes (2 for Saint-Barthélemy). Each XTRA BAG has the same maximum weight as the allowance included in your ticket. Checked bags must not exceed 158 cm total dimensions.

What are the overweight and oversized baggage rules?

On transatlantic flights: 110 € flat per bag per trip beyond 23 kg (or 32 kg in Madras class), subject to cargo capacity. Bags over 158 cm total dimensions are oversized and cost 110 € flat per bag; the request must be made at least 48h before departure.

Is it cheaper to buy extra baggage online in advance vs at the airport?

Air Caraïbes publishes a single XTRA BAG rate (from 80 € per person per trip transatlantic / from 30 € regional) with no separate airport surcharge; the rate is the same whether you book online, by phone or at an Air Caraïbes point of sale. Separately, a bag purchased beyond your free allowance is charged a flat 110 € per bag per trip on transatlantic flights.

Can I pay for extra baggage with cards, loyalty points, or miles?

Yes. XTRA BAG can be paid with bank cards (CB, Visa, Mastercard, American Express), PayPal, Apple Pay, or with convertible Préférence miles (from 12,000 miles transatlantic / 2,000 miles regional). For purchases in foreign currencies a local tax may be added (e.g. 18% ITBIS in the Dominican Republic).

Can I get a refund or transfer extra baggage if I cancel or change my booking?

XTRA BAG is non-modifiable and non-transferable. It is refunded if Air Caraïbes cannot provide the service, or in case of flight cancellation or delay under the general conditions of sale and transport. No refund applies if you don't use the service, don't meet the conditions, or modify or cancel your flight yourself.

Do partner-operated or codeshare flights have different baggage rules?

On codeshare flights operated by French Bee, XTRA BAG is valid subject to available space on board. On itineraries with connections on other airlines, baggage rules may differ and the most restrictive rule applies along your journey.

Are there any important exceptions or restrictions I should know?

XTRA BAG cannot be purchased for infant tickets and is not valid for animals or special baggage. The extra bag's maximum weight equals the allowance included in the associated ticket. Regional inter-island flights have their own allowances (max 3 bags, 2 for Saint-Barthélemy).
