Solaseed Air Baggage Allowance

Free checked and carry-on baggage allowances by cabin class and route. Allowances vary by route, ticket type, and frequent flyer status — always confirm with the official baggage policy before you fly.

Checked baggage

Solaseed Air operates a single cabin; free checked allowance is piece-based.

    • Each piece must be within 158 cm total dimensions (length + width + height).
    • Package tour / inclusive-tour discount fares allow only 1 piece free.
    • Bags over 292 cm total dimensions, over 45 kg per piece, or more than 20 pieces per person cannot be checked.

Carry-on baggage

All cabins

  • Cabin bag + personal item10 kg total
    • Cabin bag: total dimensions within 115 cm (55 cm x 40 cm x 25 cm), including wheels and handles.
    • Personal item: within 40 cm x 30 cm x 20 cm, must fit under the seat in front (rule effective for flights from July 1, 2026).
    • Even bags within these limits may be reclassified as checked baggage if they cannot be stored safely in the cabin.

How to Add Extra Baggage & Prices on Solaseed Air

Buy Baggage
  1. Complete online check-in on solaseedair.jp via the online check-in page, or proceed directly to the airport.
  2. At Haneda, Fukuoka or Naha airports use the ANA BAGGAGE DROP self-service machines for standard-size bags, or go to the ANA baggage counter; at all other airports go to the ANA baggage counter (Solaseed Air counters do not accept checked bags).
  3. Declare any bags exceeding the free allowance (extra pieces, overweight or oversize items) to the counter staff and pay the applicable excess fee per the published fee table.
  4. Receive the baggage tag and keep the baggage claim ticket, then collect your bags by matching the tag number at your destination.
  5. For special items such as musical instruments, pets, or sports equipment, contact the Solaseed Air Reservation and Information Center in advance to confirm acceptance and handling.

FAQ

Can I buy extra baggage online after booking?

No. Solaseed Air does not sell extra or excess baggage online in advance. All excess baggage fees are assessed and paid at the airport on the day of travel.

Where do I buy extra baggage?

Pay excess baggage fees at the ANA baggage counter at your departure airport (self-service ANA BAGGAGE DROP machines are available at Haneda, Fukuoka and Naha for standard-size bags). Solaseed Air counters do not accept checked bags.

When is the deadline to buy extra baggage online?

There is no online pre-purchase deadline because all payment happens at the airport. At Haneda, bag drop closes 30 minutes before departure. Oversized bags (over 203 cm total), bags over 32 kg per piece, and special items such as contrabasses require advance contact with the Reservation and Information Center.

How many extra bags can I buy, and what are the bag limits?

Each free checked bag must weigh no more than 23 kg and measure no more than 158 cm in total dimensions. No more than 20 checked pieces per person are accepted. A single piece over 45 kg, over 292 cm total dimensions, cannot be accepted. Carry-on is limited to 1 cabin bag plus 1 personal item with a combined weight of 10 kg.

What are the overweight or oversized baggage rules?

Bags weighing 23–32 kg cost JPY 1,100 per piece (JPY 500 on Naha–Ishigaki); bags over 32 kg up to 45 kg cost JPY 5,500 per piece (JPY 4,400 on Naha–Ishigaki). Bags measuring 158–292 cm total dimensions cost JPY 5,500 per piece. These are airport-paid fees, not online products.

How does the airline calculate extra baggage charges?

Fees are fixed per piece per flight sector, tax included, with a cheaper weight-excess band on the Naha–Ishigaki route. If a bag exceeds two or more conditions at once (for example extra piece plus overweight), each applicable fee is added together.

Are there any important exceptions or restrictions I should know?

Checked baggage is handled at ANA counters, not Solaseed Air counters. Sports equipment up to 292 cm total dimensions is exempt from the size surcharge. Contrabasses require advance reservation. Brachycephalic (short-headed) dog breeds are not accepted from May 1 to October 31 each year.
