FAQ
Can I buy extra baggage online after booking?

Where do I buy extra baggage?
Purchase online through the PAL Website (during booking or via Manage My Booking) and PAL Mobile App. You can also buy through PAL Ticket Offices, Contact Center, and select travel agencies up to 4 hours before departure.
When is the deadline to buy extra baggage online?
Prepaid Baggage can be purchased from the time of booking up to 4 hours before the scheduled estimated time of departure.
Is it cheaper to buy extra baggage online in advance vs at the airport?
Yes, online Prepaid Baggage is significantly cheaper. For example, 20kg on domestic flights costs PHP 1,100 online vs PHP 2,000 at the airport. Airport baggage is only available for domestic flights.
How many extra bags can I buy, and what are the bag limits?
Maximum of 50kg Prepaid Baggage per person per sector for weight-based routes (one Prepaid Baggage only). For piece-system routes, maximum of 2 pieces per person per sector, each up to 23kg, plus an optional 32kg piece. Each individual bag must not exceed 32kg.
How does Philippine Airlines calculate extra baggage charges?
PAL uses both weight-based and piece-based pricing depending on the route. Domestic flights and select international routes (China, SE Asia, Korea, Australia, Papua New Guinea) use weight-based pricing (per kg block). Routes to the Middle East, Japan, Guam, and North America use piece-based pricing (per piece up to 23kg or 32kg). Prepaid Baggage rates are per sector.
Can I get a refund for prepaid baggage if I cancel my flight?
Prepaid Baggage is generally non-refundable and non-transferable. However, in cases of flight disruption, cancellation, or irregular operations where you decide not to travel, the Prepaid Baggage fee will be refunded in full following normal refund procedures.
What are the overweight or oversized baggage rules?
Each bag must not exceed 32kg. Bags exceeding the prepaid weight allowance are charged standard excess baggage rates, which vary by route — refer to the PAL website or contact the Contact Center for specific rates. For piece-system routes, bags up to 32kg can be purchased as a separate option. Pooling of baggage is allowed for passengers on the same booking traveling together.
Are there any important exceptions or restrictions?
Prepaid Baggage is applicable on PR operated/marketed flights from or within the Philippines. Flights to/from Basco are temporarily suspended. Busuanga has a 15kg maximum. Sports equipment cannot currently be purchased online and must be bought through PAL Ticket Offices or the Contact Center. Prepaid Baggage is forfeited for no-show passengers.
Do partner-operated or codeshare flights have different baggage rules?
Prepaid Baggage is only applicable on PR operated/marketed flights from or within the Philippines. Free baggage allowance (FBA) on a specific flight may not apply to connecting flights on other carriers. Check with PAL or the operating carrier for connecting flights.
Can I pay for extra baggage with cards or other payment methods?
Online payment via credit/debit card is accepted on the PAL Website and Mobile App. Purchases through PAL Ticket Offices and Contact Center accept standard payment methods including cash and card.
