  2. Enter your booking locator code and last name to retrieve your reservation.
  3. In your trip details, select the 'Compre bagagem' (Buy baggage) option.
  4. Choose the number of additional checked bags you need.
  5. Select your preferred purchase timing (more than 48h before or less than 48h before departure).
  6. Complete payment and receive confirmation via email with updated itinerary.

Yes. After booking, go to 'Minhas Viagens' on voegol.com.br or the GOL app, enter your booking locator and last name, then select 'Compre bagagem' to purchase additional checked bags.

Where do I buy extra baggage?

You can buy extra baggage online through 'Minhas Viagens' on the GOL website or app, at airport counters, GOL stores, or by calling the customer service center. Special baggage (bagagem diferenciada) cannot be purchased through digital channels — only at airports, GOL stores, or call center.

When is the deadline to buy extra baggage online?

Online purchase is available up until check-in. For the best price, buy more than 48 hours before departure (rates marked '+' 48h'). Buying between 48h and departure time (rates marked '-' 48h') costs more but still less than airport rates.

How does GOL calculate extra baggage charges?

GOL uses a piece-based system with five route zones: Domestic Brazil, South America, Central America/Caribbean/Mexico, USA, and Europe. Prices vary by zone, number of bags (1st, 2nd, 3rd-5th), and purchase timing (more than 48h before, less than 48h before, or at airport). Standard bag weight limit is 23 kg per piece.

Is it cheaper to buy extra baggage online in advance vs at the airport?

Yes. Online pre-purchase more than 48 hours before departure offers the lowest rates. Buying less than 48 hours before is more expensive but still cheaper than airport rates. For domestic Brazil, the 1st bag ranges from R$ 175,00 (early online) to R$ 250,00 (airport).

How many extra bags can I buy, and what are the bag limits?

Each passenger can check a maximum of 5 pieces total. Each checked bag must not exceed 23 kg and max dimensions of 80 cm height, 50 cm width, 28 cm depth. For domestic Brazil, max weight per piece is 45 kg; for international flights, max is 32 kg.

What are the overweight or oversized baggage rules?

Bags between 23 kg and 32 kg (or 23-45 kg for domestic Brazil) are charged excess weight fees at the airport. Overweight purchases are generally not available online — only at airport counters. Special/differentiated baggage (sports equipment, musical instruments, etc.) is charged per item and max dimensions are 292 cm total (A+B+C) with max 23 kg.

Do partner-operated or codeshare flights have different baggage rules?

Yes. For international flights operated by GOL's partner airlines, baggage weight limits may differ. Check the partner airline's rules for weight limits per bag. GOL does not accept declared value baggage on itineraries with partner-operated flights.

Can I get a refund for extra baggage if I cancel or change my booking?

Refund policies depend on fare type. Refunds for special/differentiated baggage are allowed only for Flex, Premium Economy, and INSIGNIA Business Flex fares when requested before departure. Basic, Light, Classic, and INSIGNIA Business Classic fares are not eligible for baggage refunds. No-show (post-flight) refunds are not available regardless of fare.

Are there any important exceptions or restrictions I should know?

Basic fare does not include any checked baggage. Light fare does not include baggage for non-Smiles and Smiles members (but Prata and above get 1+ free bags). Smiles loyalty program members (Prata, Ouro, Diamante, Magno) receive complimentary checked bags based on tier, even on Basic and Light fares. Special baggage cannot be purchased with miles. Prices are in BRL; USD conversion applies at points of sale outside Brazil.
